Biden talks to US players ahead of World Cup opener

President of AmericaJoe Biden spoke to the country’s national team on the phone to encourage the players. World Cup🇧🇷 This Monday. “Coach, dress me up, I’m ready to play,” Biden joked as he shook hands with head coach Greg Berhalder.

A video released by US Soccer shows part of the president’s conversation at the White House with the entire US national team in Qatar.

“I know you’re not the favorites, but you’ve got some of the best players in the world on your team and you’re representing this country,” Biden told the players. “I know you’ll play with your heart. We’re going to surprise you. Trust each other and play as hard as you can, for yourself, for your family, for your teammates,” the president asked.

“That’s very kind news, Mr. President,” Berhalter replied. “The whole team is here now, we really appreciate your support and we’re ready.”
