The Brazilian had to guarantee the classification of Barcelona de Guayaquil for the second stage of the Libertadores. After a goalless draw in normal time, the Ecuadorean team beat Montevideo City Torque of Uruguay 8-7 on penalties, and midfielder Leonai Sousa scored the decisive blow.

In furtherance of Barcelona de Guayaquil for the 2022 season, Leonai was signed after he excelled at Plaza Colonia in Uruguay. In Brazil, he has worked in Taquaritinga and Comercial de Ribeirão Preto, both from São Paulo.
Barcelona and Turk tied 1-1 in the first leg in Uruguay. Torque, who made his Libertadores debut this year, is part of the City group, which includes several clubs around the world – the main one being Manchester City, from England.

Barcelona, who reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores in 2021, will face Universitario Peru in the second stage. Matches will be played on February 23 and March 2. The return match will be at the National Stadium in Lima, Peru.
