You don’t need 76 trombones to lead a parade when you have Lyn Lorenz, her scooter, pea pod balloons, kids in cow masks, and bubble blowers to lead your parade at the Farmers’ Market in Lodi.  It was a sight to see.  We didn’t make the Susie parade in Lodi the previous Saturday because of the rain, so we made our own parade at the market this past Friday.  We gave out popcorn (grown by one of our vendors) to shoppers and vendors.  It was fun beyond fun.

Speaking of sights to see, the bounty of the gardens these days provides vendor’s tables that are works of art. Edible works of art that you can purchase to take home and put on your table.–red tomatoes next to the yellow squash, the green of cucumbers contrasting the green of cabbage, contrasting the green husks on the sweet corn, contrasting the green of the watermelon.  Add to this mix bouquets of all size and colors of fresh flowers and you are living inside a Monet painting . He had his garden to treasure, you can share in the 20 gardens of our  vendors..  You name the vegetable and it is there for you to purchase—freshly picked that morning at a reasonable price.  It is a sight to see and savor!!  Healthy (and delicious) eating for your pleasure.

Fun (as always) at the market, but this week in addition to the great and healthy food at the market we will have chiropractic, tai chi and massage information  along with the Lodi EMS,  and YMCA folks. Stop by for healthy food and healthful information.

I wish you could have seen the market barn overflowing with garden treasures for the Lodi Food Pantry on last Friday when I left the market. There was hardly room to fit the signs back in!  Our vendors are beyond generous!  Gunny sack bags of sweet corn.  Yes, that huge a donation—and not just one bag, two bags that size.  And that was just from one vendor. If that kind of sharing could exist in other areas of our lives, this would be a better planet for all of us.

Do you know we have leaks at the market.  Long, green, white headed leaks smelling beautiful.  All the leaks you could want—except Larry, of course.  Do you think he’s planning his campaign for governor?

See you at the market on Friday…….

The Lodi Valley Farmer’s Market is held on Friday afternoons from 2 – 6 May through October at the Northern Edge Restaurant, located at N1430 Highway 113, Lodi, WI.
