“We should already know and be honest with ourselves.”

Xbox chief Phil Spencer has spoken about delaying the much-anticipated game Halo Infinite. Thanks Eurogamer. Game 343 was supposed to be released alongside the Xbox Series X | The new S from Microsoft for Christmas 2020.

But after the disastrous presentation in July last year, and it received massive criticism mainly for its visual appearance, in August of the same year, it was decided to postpone the launch to 2021. It now arrives on December 8, 2021, a year after the original date.

“I don’t like how we did it,” Spencer admitted to GQ. “I don’t like the fact that we showed the game, we talked about releasing it at the time of the console release. And within a month we had to change it.”

The delay left the release of new consoles with a few alternatives from Microsoft games. In contrast, PlayStation 5 has had a large share of titles from Sony’s in-house studios such as Demon’s Souls remaster, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Sackboy A Big Adventure.

“We should already know and be honest with ourselves,” Spencer continued. “Our existence wasn’t by mistake, it was by hope. I don’t think hope is a great development strategy.”

The decision to delay Halo Infinite must have been tough, but it was probably the best thing they did for the series, especially after the new campaign video that showed a massive improvement in its graphics.
