Unimed São Carlos released a statement to the public on Saturday afternoon (17) reporting that it is close to reaching 100% of Covid-19 ICU occupancy.
In addition to the increase in the bed occupancy rate, the statement said, there is also concern about a shortage of drugs used to intubate patients. “We have the capacity at the maximum, which would result if the numbers of critically ill patients continued to rise, in a situation of great concern.”
The letter also speaks of the flexibility announced yesterday by the SP government, which announced the transition, allowing stores, restaurants and churches to open. “In the case of Sao Carlos, the situation remains very critical, in both the public and private health systems.”
Finally, Unimed São Carlos asks for the support of the entire population to maintain already known safety measures, such as social distancing, hand hygiene and mask use. “Unfortunately, it is not yet time to relax about these actions. We all need you to win this battle together. It’s not over yet.”
