Unimed-BH Gets International Recognition – Diário do Comércio

Sustainability is on the agenda of large organizations around the world, which increasingly consider aspects beyond economic and financial outcomes necessary for business. For the alignment of sustainability reporting, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) issues the “Materiality Disclosure Service” seal for accountability documents.

Unimed-BH’s Management Report 2020 for the sixth year in a row has been awarded the seal, which indicates that the approved disclosures are clearly presented in the document. “We have transparency as an important value to our management and we make sure that reliable information about our business and procedures is available to all audiences. Achieving the GRI seal for another year is a testament to this commitment and the dedicated work we do,” says Unimed-BH director, Samuel Flam.

The Unimed-BH Management Report 2020 also linked the GRI structure to the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), the so-called integrated reporting, in order to demonstrate the value the cooperative generates and shares during the year. The GRI and IIRC are non-profit organizations.

The first is dedicated to disseminating standards for organizations’ presentations of economic, environmental and social performance, which are recognized good governance practices around the world. On the one hand, the International Financial Research Center (IIRC) encourages a coherent approach to the corporate reporting process.

Another novelty in this version of the report is the adoption of a new format for presenting results, based on ESG Practices – English acronym for Environmental, Social and Governance Aspects (Environmental, Social and Governance). ESG translates a set of procedures that align with the business model and collaborative principles.

Strategic contributions Unimed-BH has been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UN) since 2012, and as such, it assumes a general commitment to developing actions for effective contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2020, the cooperative deepened the topic, carrying out the work of prioritizing the SDGs most affected by our operations.

This process is also described in the Management Report for 2020 and is another novelty in the document, which also informed the commitment of Unimed-BH to the Desafio 2030 network. With this, the cooperative is also committed to promoting contributions to the state’s priority sustainable development goals of Minas Gerais.
