Unicamp holds the “Open Science and Decentralization” forum

Professors and professionals with expertise, influence, and relevance in the fields of education, science, technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation will convene at the Permanent Forum, aiming to present their ideas, experiences, and practical insights on open and decentralized science, and to address issues related to models for research and development, democratization, and access to science.

The event will take place on May 23, starting at 9 am, at the Convention Center of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). The program will begin with the first tabletop discussion, at 9:15 am. The topic to be covered will be “Open Science X Decentralized Science: Challenges in R&D and Innovation”.

The second schedule will start at 11:00 am, right after the coffee break, which will focus on Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science Applied to Science. After the lunch break, the participants will gather for the third discussion table, which will take place at 2 pm, and its topic is Pedagogy, Entrepreneurship and Management Applied to Teaching Science and the Scientific Method. Then, the participants will take a coffee break before the last table.

The program ends with the fourth table, which will discuss the topic that bears the name of the forum: “Open and Decentralized Science: Integration of Scientific Research into Society.”

The forum includes famous guests from the sector

The event will feature well-known special guests from the world of science, including scientist Maria Goretti, President of DeScier and Ambassador of the Brazilian Association of Healthy Startups who has worked for more than 35 years as a researcher at Fiocruz. Another guest is Professor Claudia Maria Bauser, elected in 2018 to the Brazilian Academy of Sciences; Member of the Scientific Council of WDS (World Data System) since 2020 and Elected Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, in 2021.

One of the organizers of the event is Unicamp computer scientist Jonathan Boilesen, CEO and co-founder of Boilesen, a consulting and training firm in strategic management, business intelligence, and innovation.
