a World Economic Forum Canceled on Monday due to Covid-19, Its annual meeting in 2021, to be held in August at Singapore. The decision was announced in a memorandum by the organization’s CEO, Klaus Schwab.
Schwab argued that the “different speeds” of vaccination campaigns around the world and doubts about variants of the virus “make it impossible” to hold a global meeting on the “planned scale.”
“It was a difficult decision, especially in light of the great interest of our partners in meeting not only hypothetically, but personally, and contributing to a more resilient, more inclusive and sustainable world,” the statement reads. “But, ultimately, the health and safety of everyone involved is our highest priority.”
This announcement came after the Singaporean authorities took strict measures to disengage socialism to contain another increase in cases of coronavirus infection.
According to the decision, the next annual meeting of the World Economic Forum will be held in the first half of 2022. The venue and date of the event will be decided at a later time, according to the statement.
The organization of the World Economic Forum, traditionally held in January in Davos, Switzerland, has already been postponed and the event moved to Singapore due to COVID-19.
