“The Teton County Forensic Department has been sent to retrieve a body in the county’s national park,” AFP local coroner Brent Blue said.
“Earlier today, human remains were found that matched Gabriel ‘KP’ Petito’s description,” FBI agent Charles Jones told a news conference. “I extend my most sincere and deepest condolences to KP’s family,” he added.
The young woman, 22, who went missing on September 11, was traveling with her partner when U.S. authorities launched an extensive search. The family said her parents last contacted him when the two passengers were in the Grand Dayton National Park area of Wyoming.
Gabby Petito left her job in July to travel across the United States in a van with her boyfriend, Brian Laundry, 23.
Two weeks ago, Laundry returned home alone with her submarine to the northern port of Florida. He was declared “interested” by investigators, but later disappeared.
Laundry’s parents have not seen him since Tuesday, according to North Port Police, who are now working on a “multi-missing” case.
