Lawyers for former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said on Monday (15) that the former president transferred US$135,000, just 600,000 reais, from a savings account at Banco do Brasil (BP) to the United States. The move was made in December 2022, two months after the defeat of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).
Former President Jair Bolsonaro’s adviser and lawyer, Fábio Wajngarten, briefed journalists at the PL’s headquarters in Brasilia when the movement arose out of the former president’s distrust of the then-elected government. Especially, within the scope of running the economy.
Yet according to Bolsonaro’s defense, “the transfer took place through the Central Bank”.
Prosecutors commented on federal police investigations pointing to reports that Bolsonaro’s former aide, Mauro Cid, had asked officials to pay cash for the expenses of former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro and relatives.. The evidence of the deposit from Mauro Cid to Michelle Bolsonaro was revealed this Monday (15) by the UOL website.
