Pietro Fittipaldi will compete in the full endurance season in the United States

Despite his ties to Formula 1, Pietro Fittipaldi should focus on endurance racing this year. The Brazilian driver confirmed this Saturday that he will compete in a full season of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Endurance Championship in the United States. Earlier, he had already arranged his presence in this year’s WEC, the world of long races.

In the American division, Rick Ware Racing, grandson of Emerson Fittipaldi, will be at the team. He will compete in LMP2’s ORECA 07 Gibson alongside Eric Lux. Devlin DeFrancesco and Austin Cindric will be on the same team in long races. IMSA hosts the traditional 24 Hours of Daytona race on the 28th.

“I’m very excited to be racing with RWR again. I raced the 2021 Indy 500 for the first time with Rick and we won the fastest rookie award. It’s always been a dream of mine to race in another big event with the 24 Hours of Daytona. I grew up watching, and I think that’s one of the reasons why I started running,” commented the Brazilian.

A reserve for the Haas team in F-1, Pietro earned praise from his new team boss. “Along with the Daytona 500, the Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Daytona is one of the crown jewels of world motorsport. I couldn’t be happier with our line-up of drivers in 2023, including Pietro Fittipaldi, who will compete in the world’s major divisions, F-1, Indy, and more. He brings a lot of experience and talent,” said Rick Ware.

On Friday, the Brazilian had already confirmed that he will compete in the full season of the 2023 World Endurance Championship WEC. He will compete in the LMP2 class for the JOTA team, the reigning champion.

Pietro said on the weekend of the Sao Paulo F1 GP in November last year Estado Knowing that Haas’s chances of promotion to main driver were slim, he intended to run at least one race from start to finish this year.

The US team confirmed that German Nico Hulkenberg will join Danish Kevin Magnussen in the starting duo to replace compatriot Mick Schumacher.
