Pia Sundhag calls up the Brazilian national team for friendly matches in Europe in October | Brazilian national team

Coach Pia Sundage called up 24 players on Thursday for two friendlies for the Brazilian women’s team in Europe, in October. The first of them will be against Norway, on the seventh, in Oslo. Next, Brazil will face Italy, on the tenth, in Genoa.

Villa called up 13 players working in national football, seven of whom are involved in the decision of the Brazilian championship: five from Corinthians (Leticia Isidoro, Tamiris, Tarcian, Jacqueline and Adriana) and two from Internacional (Duda Sampaio and Milen). After a 1-1 draw at Beira-Rio, the two teams decided the title on Saturday, at the Neo Química Arena, at 2 p.m. – Sportv broadcasts the match, and ge follows it in real time.

The Brazilian national team matches were preparations for the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Norway and Italy are also eligible to compete. On October 22, FIFA will tie the groups in Auckland, New Zealand.

Norway and Italy play really differently. Norway has a new technology, because the selection was not very good in the European Cup. The coach is my friend and he was my assistant in the past. So Norway should have a different style than what we saw in the Euro. “Italy are a very good team, maybe they will have a different style as well, which is very good,” Villa said at the press conference after the call-up.

I think it’s important to play against the best, not only to win but also to find a space where the players can do well. If we create chances, we at least have a chance to change the game a little bit and improve some things. We have to be more aggressive in defense, because if we look at the best European teams, they run a lot, there are a lot of duels, you have a midfield that is really fighting for the ball – commented the coach.

– We need to move the ball and make good decisions, if we are going to counter-attack or if we keep the ball. And one more thing to be aggressive in defense, pressure is half the answer. The question is: Where do we win the ball? If we answer that, we will be very successful – he added.

As promised in the previous call-up, Villa called up three players who featured in Brazil’s third-place campaign at the U-20 World Cup, which was held in September in Costa Rica: defender Tarcian, from Corinthians, defender Lorraine and defensive midfielder Yaya, both from Sao Paulo.

– This takes time, Yaya is an excellent example, she was called on my first summons (September 2019) and now she’s back. To face these strong teams, the midfield is very important, Yaya will play a key role, we will try new things – noted the Swedish coach.
