Learn how to use Enem score to study abroad

The National High School Examination (Enem) is the main gateway to Brazilian universities. Many people do not know that the test score can also be used to study outside of Brazil.

Portugal

In Portugal alone, at least 50 companies accept the test score to select Brazilian applicants. It has been going on since 2014 when Inep (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira), linked to the MEC, signed cooperation agreements with Portuguese universities and institutions.

Other international universities that accept me

Although formal MEC partnerships have only been signed with Portugal, other countries (such as the UK, France, Ireland and Canada) also consider the Enem score for undergraduate admission.

For example, in the United Kingdom, the Enum score is required for admission to Oxford, Kingston and Bristol universities. However, it is important to point out that they may also be asked to take a local entrance exam.

In British institutions, the National High School Examination score is added to other topics such as English fluency, the applicant’s secondary school record and extracurricular activities.

In France, although some French universities also accept the Enemy, access to Brazilians through the exam is a little more complicated. This is because institutions, usually in Brazil, must be approved before applying for courses in a European country.

In the United States, New York University recently chose to accept the ENAM score for all undergraduate courses, replacing traditional standardized tests (SAT or ACT).

In Canada, the University of Toronto (one of the top universities in the country) requires a candidate to submit their Enum score along with their high school diploma. A candidate’s score in the exam will also count towards the marks in his application.

Since each university establishes its own rules for accepting the national exam score, it is best to monitor the websites of the foreign institutions you wish to study in order to collect the necessary documents and not miss the application deadline.

It’s worth remembering that getting into a college outside of Brazil through me isn’t just about sending in Brazilian test scores and waiting for an acceptance letter.
