Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris leads Republican Donald Trump 47% to 40% in the November 5 US presidential race, as Trump’s lead on the economy and jobs appears to have slipped, an Ipsos poll released Tuesday showed.

Kamala leads by 6 percentage points based on the unrounded numbers — which show her with 46.61% of registered voters supporting her, compared to 40.48% for Trump, according to the three-day closed poll released Monday. The Democratic nominee’s lead was slightly larger than the 5-point lead she held over Trump in a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted Sept. 11-12.

The poll has a margin of error of about 4 percentage points.

When asked which candidate had the best stance on “the economy, unemployment and jobs,” 43 percent of voters in the poll chose Trump, and 41 percent chose Kamala. Trump’s 2-point lead on the issue compares to a 3-point lead in a Reuters/Ipsos poll in August and an 11-point lead over Kamala in late July, shortly after she launched her campaign.

While national polls, including Reuters/Ipsos, provide important clues about voters’ views, each state’s Electoral College results determine the winner, and seven states are likely to be decisive.

The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll interviewed 1,029 U.S. adults online across the country, including 871 registered voters. Of those, 785 were likely to go to the polls on Election Day. Among those likely voters, Kamala led 50 percent to 44 percent, though her lead, like her lead among all registered voters, was only 5 points when unrounded numbers were used.
