LOS ANGELES / NEW YORK (Reuters) – Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and former New York Yankees baseball star Alex Rodriguez broke off their engagement because “we are better friends” and announced their split on Thursday a few months after denying the four were. – General relationship shook.
“We have realized we are better as friends and we hope we stay that way,” said Lopez, 51, also known as J. Low, and Rodriguez, 45, better known as A Rod, in a joint statement.
“We will continue to work together and support each other in our joint business and projects,” the two said.
One of the biggest celebrity couples in the United States of the past four years, and he’s sometimes referred to in the media as J-Rod, Lopez, and Rodriguez say they’ll talk a little bit about his split out of respect for the kids of past relationships.
In March, they denied reports that they had broken up, saying they were “working out some things.”
At the time, celebrity website TMZ, Page Six on the New York Post and several entertainment sites cited anonymous sources close to the couple who said the couple had ended their engagement.
Rodriguez and the translator of “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” who sang on US President Joe Biden’s possession in January, began dating in early 2017 and announced they were engaged in March 2019.
Late last year, Lopez said the two men had postponed the wedding twice due to the pandemic.
