Intel, the US semiconductor manufacturer, has decided to suspend its transportation service, Intel Aviation, as part of a new downsizing plan that was recently announced, according to the newspaper. OregonThis decision comes after the company recorded a net loss of $1.6 billion in the second quarter of 2024, which led to the implementation of a $10 billion cost-cutting program.
Intel Aviation’s fleet currently consists of two Embraer ERJ-145s and two E175s, all operated by GMJ Air Shuttle (HGT), a division of XOJET Aviation. The aircraft operates charter flights under a 125 certificate, connecting Intel facilities on the West Coast and beyond, with primary routes from Portland-Hillsboro, Sacramento-Mother, San Jose, and Phoenix-Williams Gateway.
Although Intel has not publicly released details of the cuts, CEO Pat Gelsinger told employees in an internal chat that the suspension Corporate Shuttle This will be one of several changes that will impact benefits and programs offered to employees.
It is worth noting that the transportation service was resumed in April 2024, after a year of interruption.
