The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Marcos Pontes, highlighted the state of innovation in Santa Catarina during a visit to the Sapiens Parque on Thursday morning, 24, in Florianópolis. According to Pontes, the example of Santa Catarina should be shown to other parts of the country when it comes to successful technology parks. The visit was accompanied by Sapiens Parque Director, Daniel Leibnitz, and Fapesc President, Fabio Holthausen.
“This park has always caught my attention because of its structure and ability to provide the transformation of knowledge into jobs. Now, with the Financial Structure Secretariat working alongside the park in search of sustainability, I see this as an empirical model that can be applied everywhere in the country. This will be essential. “We have many good infrastructures, but they lack a well-designed financial structure,” says Pontes.
CEO of Sapiens Parque highlighted the importance of partnerships between state and federal government. According to Leibniz, the ministry helps with business modeling. He also indicated that 17 projects to install companies in the technology zone are being discussed. If they all paid off, the investment would exceed R$1 billion.
“We have here an innovation ecosystem that is over 40 years old and is improving its growth mechanisms day by day. We are working with the ministry on this long-term sustainability plan for all the initiatives that will come, in addition to those already here,” Leibniz stresses.
