Harley-Davidson unveils the new 2021 Sportster

After some early teasing last month, Harley Davidson He finally revealed his new motorbike Great Pan American Trail. But anyone expecting a new classic and entry-level model, like the old Sportster in Brazil, will be surprised.

The new 2021 Harley-Davidson Sportster S unveiled in the US gives it a more modern look, mixing some Fat Bob elements, like the rectangular headlights, with lines inspired by “flat-track” race bikes, like the XR 750, something It can be seen in the raised dual exhaust outlet. Up front, the smaller diameter wheel with a fairly wide tire is reminiscent of an old Sportster Forty-Eight with a bobber look.

The heart of the new Sportster S is the same as the Pan America. In the center of the hull appears the Revolution Max, two-cylinder engine in 1.252 cm V, but with the nickname T, since the novelty has several exclusive solutions. These include smaller overhead valves for faster airflow and smaller combustion chambers. The air filter housing and camshaft change as well, and Harley is an engine with better response at low and mid revs.

Figures revealed by the manufacturer show that the new 2021 Sportster S engine generates 121 horsepower at 9500 rpm and 12.9 kg/m of torque at 7500 rpm. The transmission has 6 speeds and the final transmission is belt. It weighs 228 kg in the arrangement, and the declared maximum speed is 220 km / h.

To control the bike, Harley-Davidson used a mesh rear gauge, with unique Showa-supplied shock absorbers equipped with preload adjustment and remote reservoir. Up front, the inverted telescopic fork is also Showa and adjustable, with 43mm-diameter tubes.

The wheels are 17 inches in diameter up front and 16 inches in the rear, both of which are shod with Dunlop GT 503 tires. The brake system is provided by Brembo. The front part has a single disc with a diameter of 320 mm and a 4-piston caliper. At the rear, the disc is 260 mm in size and has a two-piston jaw.

The technology part is complemented by three selectable driving modes (Road, Sport and Rain) and two additional customizable modes, traction control, rear control, a six-axle inertial sensor and Active ABS in the curves. Cruise control and a tire pressure monitoring system, among other things, are also standard.

All new Sportster S lighting is done with LED lights, while the bike also has a round, color-coded digital panel, with a 4-inch TFT screen. Through it, it is also possible to access systems connected via Bluetooth, such as music and navigation, but for the latter it is necessary to use a special application from Harley-Davidson. With no expectations until the moment it arrives in Brazil, the new 2021 Harley-Davidson Sportster S starts at $14,999 in the US, or about R$76,160.
