boss “Barbie”Greta Gerwig revealed she was a little intimidated when taking on the script and directing of the feature based on the world’s most famous doll. The American was interviewed by Dua Lipa’s “At Your Service” podcast, and said she believes the film could mark the end of her career.
But, since life is made of challenges, Greta turned fear into encouragement and moved to develop one of the films that was talked about even before the trailer premiered. “It was exciting because it was scary. I felt giddy when I started writing it. ‘Where do I start and what would the story be?’ I think that feeling you told me would be a really interesting horror,” he explained.
“Usually, that’s where the best stuff is. It’s when you think, ‘I’m terrified of this,’ or, ‘This could end my career,’ but then you say, ‘Maybe I should do this.’”
In addition to directing, the Oscar-nominated director signs the screenplay for Barbie alongside Noah Baumbach. The movie is set to be released on July 21, 2023 and will feature a gold star Margot RobbieAnd Ryan Gosling, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simo Liu, Hari Nef, Will Ferrell, Nkoti Gatua, Connor Swindells and Ritu Arya.
