As part of its strategy to fight Covid-19, Unimed Ribeirão Preto is now implementing service for suspected cases at one location, CAC – 24 Hours Coronavirus Service Center, on Avenida Nove de Julho, 222. The site has been in operation since March last year, when the virus arrived to Brazil and led to the need to restructure public and private health services. At Unimed Ribeirão Preto, one of the first actions was the creation of CACs designed to receive symptomatic clients. On average, the centers came to deal with 170 new cases per day during the epidemic’s peak periods.
Located in the central region with its own car park, CAC Nove de Julho features a complete structure to provide care to clients suspected of having the disease, with rapid and safe screening, emergency care equipment, including respirators, and specific laboratory and imaging tests for the diagnosis and treatment of coronavirus New, specially trained medical and nursing staff, and inter-hospital transport in the mobile intensive care unit available on site 24 hours a day, in cases of emergency admissions.
A trained team provides multidisciplinary support to patients
With the teams focusing exclusively on the symptoms of Covid-19, all the experiences gained since the beginning of the pandemic remain at the service of Unimed customers in Ribeirão Preto and the region. “All these months after the start of the epidemic and despite all the challenges it still brings us, we are now better able to understand the course of the disease. We can better manage their symptomatic treatment, with very well-established protocols and structured flows of care,” assesses Ilian Nepomuceno, Coordinator The nursing team at the center.
In cases requiring hospitalization, after discharge and if there is a referral for it, unrestricted clients can still find post-Covid care at CAC, with nursing care, psychology and pulmonology, plus all the welcome attention.
“We hear stories of overcoming difficulties from everyone who is going through this difficult time,” says Elaine. “They are emotional stories.” The Post-Covid Care Clinic was set up in September last year and has already taken in about 500 patients who have overcome more than one difficult moment in the hospital – illness.
As part of this new strategy, other urgent and emergency care services continue to be provided at Unimed Ribeirão Preto Hospital, for cases involving trauma, heart attacks, strokes and accidents, among other health problems, with a team working 24 hours a day where the medicine is practiced in First world. Cases involving clinical care in general and pediatrics are based on Unimed’s 24-hour structure at Hospital São Paulo.
When do you look for help?
Unspecified clients should seek help if they develop symptoms of Covid-19, such as headache, runny nose, body aches, sore throat, fever and shortness of breath.
In addition to the wide chassis available at Avenida Nove de Julho, 222, Unimed plan users also have the Digital Pronto service – indicated for people with mild symptoms. It is a medical appointment made through a computer screen or cell phone, with all the comfort and security that the moment requires. Through the video, the doctor can see the patient and hear his report before clarifying his doubts or directing him to seek care. Unimed’s Digital PA can be accessed free of charge on the website www.padigitalunimed.com.br, every day of the week, from 8 am to 10 pm.
