CNPEM offers free course for 500 high school teachers

The National Center for Research on Energy and Materials (CNPEM) is accepting applications for the fourth edition of the Sirius School for High School Educators (ESPEM 2022), which will take place July 25-29. Physics, chemistry, and biology teachers from municipal, state, federal, or private schools can participate. The course is free and will be in a virtual format, with 40 hours of live activities. 500 seats are available.

The program will include lectures on the Sirius synchrotron light source, including an introduction to the science and technology of particle accelerators, synchrotron light production, the interaction between light and matter, as well as its applications in various fields of science.

Educators will also participate in virtual visits to the facilities and be introduced to the research specific to each CNPEM laboratory: Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), National Biosciences Laboratory (LNBio), National Nano Laboratory (LNNano) and National Bioenergy Laboratory (LNBR).

Professors will also receive information about the performance of the CNPEM Interdisciplinary Graduate Course in Science, Technology and Innovation (ILUM), and will be able to participate in seminars in different fields in which the Center’s researchers work.

Online applications can be submitted until June 30.. CNPEM is funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).
