Dear Friends of L.O.D.I,

L.O.D.I. cordially welcomes you to attend our Annual Meeting and New / Expanded Business Reception on Wednesday, January 27th at Lodi’s Northern EdgeHors d’oeuvres and musical entertainment begins at 5:30 pm. As you mingle, plan to register for numerous door prizes!

Following the reading of the L.O.D.I. Annual Report at 6:30, we will recognize over a dozen New or Expanded Businesses in the Lodi area.  Recognition of these businesses is a great opportunity to hear about and meet the people who have committed to economically developing our business community.  Three other awards will also be presented.  They are:

  • Vilas Hibbard Beautification Award recognizes a business or organization that has renovated its facility or property.
  • L.O.D.I. Director’s Award is presented to an individual or organization for efforts exemplifying L.O.D.I.’s mission of promoting the Lodi area and supporting area economic development.
  • “Green Awards” recognize businesses which strive to conserve energy by installing energy efficient devices

Our keynote speaker is Mark O’Connell, Executive Director of Wisconsin Counties Association.  His message will center on how to use your unique talents to help strengthen our community’s economic vitality.

Enclosed you will find your 2010 L.O.D.I. Do you have a small business or are wanting to start one and want to learn more about taxes and record keeping?  These two topics, while not everyone’s favorite things about running a small business, are critical to your success.

Please join us for the December 9th meeting of the Columbia and Sauk Entrepreneurs and Inventors’ Club to find out the basics of what you need to know to keep yourself out of trouble and in compliance with the law.  The meeting is open to the public and will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the West Square Building (Room B-24), 505 Broadway, in Baraboo.

Our speaker will be Kim Wegner, CPA with Moy, Borchert, Erbs, & Associates, LLP in Baraboo.  Her practice is focused on taxation and small businesses.  Kim has been working in public accounting for five years and is a graduate of Baraboo High School.   Both her undergraduate and graduate degrees are from UW-Whitewater.

E & I Club meetings are interactive, fun, and free! All participants have an opportunity to share their concepts and learn from and network with each other.  Don’t miss this opportunity to find the resources and people you need to help develop your business and/or invention.  We hope to see you there!

The Columbia and Sauk Entrepreneurs and Inventors’ Club is co-sponsored by the Columbia County Economic Development Corporation, the Sauk County Development Corporation and MATC.  All three of these entities have been designated as “Intake Centers” in the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Network (www.wenportal.org).

The wagon came and circled.  It wasn’t followed by war whoops or shooting.  It was surrounded by generosity and kindness instead.

Lodi Valley Farmers’ Market and the Lodi Area Food Pantry have been partners for a number of years in providing fresh produce to the elderly, shut-ins and those among our community who are experiencing rough times.  Donations from the market on Friday are stored in two coolers in the market barn and distributed on Saturday am. Lodi Area Food Pantry + Lodi Valley Farmers’ Market = One Fabulous Dynamic Duo for Lodi.

Last Friday at the Lodi Valley Farmers’  Market, donations and vendors filled two huge coolers with fresh produce for the elderly, shut in and folks in need for the Lodi Area Food Pantry. That alone is outstanding  generosity and only in Lodi can the story get even better!

For a mere $10, you can buy a very classy market bag. Last Friday Lodi Valley Farmers’ Market /Lodi Area Food Pantry bags were introduced as a fund raiser for the market and the pantry. Read more »

When we scheduled the “get grilling” market for Friday June 25th were not thinking of grilling our own hides.  It was a scorcher!  Never to be called “wimps” our vendors showed up in good spirits with garden goodies galore!  The first beans and (probably) the last asparagus were at the vendor booths.     As always, you can get the expected and unexpected at the Lodi market.
