The banks along Spring Creek from Veteran’s Park to Goeres Park and the water itself are cleaner and much more debris free.

Our sincere thanks go to the effort of the Environmental Science classes of Mr. Anthony Schnell and Ms. Donna Melchior at the Lodi High School.  On Thursday, May 07, 2009, the students came on two buses, one in the a.m. and one in the p.m. and swept along the creek banks, grabbing cans, bottles, Styrofoam, plastic bags and some unidentified large objects of interest.  Several students brought waders and walked in the water along the route.

Two snakes were seen sunning themselves on rocks in the a.m. group.  Mr.  Schnell identified them as fox snakes, a harmless, calm water loving snake.

The p.m. group, assisted also by Ms.  Ardyce Piehl, armed with camera also spotted two of the fox snakes.  Several bags of  gooey items were filled and left  at a designated point for the city to pick up.

The City of Lodi assisted in the effort by collecting the trash and recyclable material and disposing of it.
We are hopeful that this important project can become an annual event of the environmental sciences classes.

A huge thank you to all involved is in order.

Had an opportunity to visit your nice little village this past weekend. My wife and I passed through and stopped at your local Piggly Wiggly for some pop and ice. Had a very pleasant greeting from your manager and was very helpful as he got our ice for us. I did notice that you have a very nice spring fed trout stream, Spring Creek. I am an avid fly fisherman and would like to know more about this trout stream. Could you e-mail more info on the stream, ie, type of trout in the stream, do you plant trout and when, is this a fly only stream, is the stream wadable, and do you have to have permission to fish the stream. Please provide as much info on the stream as possible. Lastly, I am an oringinal native of Wisconsin, born and lived in Shell Lake, Wi for the first 18 years of my life and graduated from University of Wisconsin at Superior in 1973. I look forward from hearing from you.
Take Care,
