Lodi Landmark - Gibraltar Rock

Gibraltar Rock has held a valued place in the life of the community for many years.  Families have picnicked there, and walkers and hikers have climbed to the summit to admire the views for decades.  This is an opportunity for those who would like to remember those days to once again look out from the top of Columbia County’s highest point.

Those interested in riding to the top of the Rock can start at the West Point Town Hall, N2114 Rausch Road, beginning at 10 am and continuing throughout the day until 3 pm.  There will be light refreshments and lunch available at the Town Hall.  The dvd “Rocks of Gibraltar” by Daniel Pertzborn will be shown throughout the day.

Talks on the geology of Gibraltar Rock will be presented by Dave Mickelson, Emeritus Professor, UW Department of Geology, on the top of the Rock at 11 am and 1 pm.  Professor Mickelson will provide general information about the geological highlights of Gibraltar Rock and answer any questions. Seating will be available.

Everyone is welcome to come to Gibraltar Rock and walk to the top at any time during the day.

Information about the newly formed DNR Friends of Gibraltar Rock group and the Ice Age Trail will be available at the Rock.
