Over the Memorial Day Weekend, with some hot and sunny weather, I convinced my husband to take a “short” bike ride with me.  It was his first ride for the summer, while I have been out several times and trained all winter at the Y bike trainer program.  He said he wanted to ride just 12 miles, literally into town and back.  I, secretly, was working on getting a  more scenic ride with twice the distance.  Guess who won?

Ultimately, our ride was just under 21 miles.  Since you can’t really ride around the Lodi area without a hill, of course we had some.  The 20 miles hits some of the best areas views such as Okee Bay, Lodi Marsh, and Gibraltar Rock from the leatherleaf bog side.  My personal favorite point is riding east on Cty V past the entrance to Gibraltar with a view of Lake Wisconsin and the throat of the Wisconsin River north.

Here I share a slide show of the route that went from Okee into Lodi via Ryan Road, then circled the Lodi Marsh, hitting  more than a few hills as we headed back through West Point. I love the hills on Reynolds Road, Lovering and Cty V heading to Gibraltar. Well, seriously I don’t love them, but they build so much character, I can’t resist.  By the way, my husband was not exactly pleased with the extra distance.
