New Events Added
By popular request Joe Bainbridge, race director, added a 10K (6.2 mi) run to this years event, catering to those who were not quite up to the challenging 13.1 mile hilly course. We had 10 or more Ironman contestants using the half marathon for a training run. They said that the course was challenging and the exceptionally nice weather and higher than expected temperatures were good preparation for their summer racing schedules.
“We have expanded the Youth races and events as well as adjusted the timing so that parents can watch their youngsters run the short events and then head over to the youth activities that will keep them busy until mom or dad gets done with the 5K or 10K event.” Joe Bainbridge, Race Director
The race is a major money making effort with 100 % of the proceeds going back into youth related programs in the greater Lodi community. Lodi Optimists are the major sponsor of this event and administer the funding allocations. If your business would like to participate with a financial contribution or services/product in kind, please contact the race director at lodirunlikeamother (at) gmail (dot) com to request sponsorship forms. You can also learn more about the different levels at our Lodi Mother’s Day Run Sponsor Page.
It has been said that you need a entire village to raise a child, but you clearly need a township to run a race! The actual race course starts in the City of Lodi, heads out into the Town of Lodi and then very quickly covers the lovely scenic rural roads of the Town of West Point. Volunteers last year totaled almost 100 and included Friends of Scenic Lodi Valley, 4H, Ski Team, West Point Town Board members, Church Groups, individuals, and medical professionals. If you are interested in participating before, during or after the race for cleanup please send an email to lodirunlikeamother (at) gmail (dot) com with “volunteer” in the subject line
So which race are you going to sign up for? Challenge yourself to the 5K Run/Walk at least and enjoy the day, the people and the knowledge that it comes back to our community.
