Rep. Keith Ripp’s Support of Conceal Carry.

I support the concept of conceal carry.  There are currently four different proposals before the legislature.  I am leaning towards a permitting process which would allow Wisconsin permit holders to still conceal carry in other states.  Wisconsin one of only two states in the country that doesn’t allow conceal carry but we already allow open carry.  That is in Wisconsin you can already fashion a weapon to your belt and walk around freely.  I don’t believe conceal carry is much of a stretch from that.

Again, thank you for your email.  If you have any questions about this issue or any other please do not hesitate to contact my office.

If gun lovers can already open carry in the state, what is all the fuss about? Why do they want to hide what they are doing and now conceal weapons? Even if, as Chief Laughlin points out, law enforcement officers assume all citizens are armed, do citizens also now have to assume everyone is armed? Personally a lot of people in law enforcement admit that conceal carry will make their jobs more dangerous. Will guns be allowed in the legislative houses of the men who vote the law in? What about screening and costs of screening in all public places, now that concealment is allowed?
What is wrong with transparency? Rep Ripp also doesn’t mention the details of the four proposals and there are many which we haven’t touched on like permitting, background checks, where guns will and won’t be allowed, who is paying for screening equipment and training of gun carriers. Who is going to regulate and pay for all of this? Did anyone ever consider maybe now even non-carriers need training?
