WISCONSIN VISUAL ARTISTS PROMOTED ON CULTURAL WEBSITE, PORTALWISCONSIN.ORG
The culture and arts website www.portalwisconsin.org seeks Wisconsin artists to submit their work to its online gallery.
The online gallery is a juried, “virtual” space showcasing the quality and diversity of Wisconsin contemporary art. Its goal is to promote visibility for state artists, introducing their work to a broader public. The site will not sell art, but artists may list their contact information. Internet users who may not be able to visit an art gallery or museum have the opportunity to see some of the best work produced by artists in the Badger State.
Nearly 450 artists are currently featured in the site’s gallery. According to participating gallery artist Rachel Durfee of Madison, ”[Portal Wisconsin] is such a wonderful resource for me as an artist and for our community … There have been opportunities to sell and exhibit that would not have come my way without this site. It is a wonderful visual treasure trove that has grown so much through the years I have been involved in it.”
Artists who are interested in submitting their work for consideration should visit www.portalwisconsin.org to find guidelines and application forms.
The site, www.portalwisconsin.org, is a nonprofit project of the Cultural Coalition of Wisconsin, which is made up of seven statewide partners — Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters; Wisconsin Arts Board; Wisconsin Historical Society; Wisconsin Humanities Council; Wisconsin Library Association; Wisconsin Public Radio; Wisconsin Public Television; University of Wisconsin Extension-Continuing Education.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Endowment for the Arts and University of Wisconsin-Extension are funding www.portalwisconsin.org.
