LHS Forensics Team Captures Conference

The Lodi High School Forensics Team captured its fourth consecutive conference championship on Monday, February 2 at Columbus.  Twenty-five entries competed in fourteen categories, capturing 12 first place gold medals and five silver medals. With 297 points the team surpassed their rival Watertown Luther Prep, who scored 271. Conference champions include: Andrew Bulovsky, Katy Lang, Kelsey Smith, Greta Reed, Max Love, Janelle Krummen, Emily Wimmer, Stacy Veach, Jessica Timmons, Holly Hargis, Emily Stephenson, Austin Rea.  Silver medalists include Phoebe Mogharei, Maddie Reed, Brianne Triggs, Alee Putman, and Taran O’Reilly.

With two invitational remaining, they are aiming for towards the Wisconsin Excellence in Speech award at the state tournament.

The team started the season with a second place trophy at Berlin on January 24. Individual winners included Brianne Triggs as a champion in oratory, and Emily Stephenson (special occasion), Andrew Bulovsky (extemp), Katrina Putman (public address), and Quinton Taylor (radio speaking) were finalists (in the top six) in their categories.

The following Saturday, the team again captured second place, scoring 201 points and surpassing 20 other teams. Finalist medal winners included Katrina Putman, Emily Stephenson, Stacy Veach, Kim Breunig, Kelsey Smith, Greta Reed, Maddie Reed, Kyle Kohl, Holly Hargis, and Katy Lang. Trophy winners included Max Love, Janelle Krummen, Emily Wimmer (third); Andrew Bulovsky (second); and Quinton Taylor (champion).The team has two other invitationals at Sun Prairie and Lodi before starting the state tournament sequence at Marshall on February 23. They are working towards the Wisconsin Excellence in Speech award at the state tournament in April.
