The Lodi Valley market mangers (aka Lyn and Gail)  have been known to look into their crystal ball and see clouds instead of sunshine.  After talking with a few vendors we had predicted the week before for strawberries. Cold weather and rain entered our crystal ball and the strawberry patches messing up the forecast.

Last week at the market was Library Days with the Lodi library folks at the market table promoting their summer reading program.  What fun folks they are!!   No dull stodgy librarians in Lodi!

We were wrong the week before, but oh my gosh did we have strawberries on Friday. Big, Fat, Juicy, Bright Red, BEAUTIFUL strawberries that flew off the vendor’s tables as fast as they could put them out.  One vendor sold 30 quarts in 35 minutes and went home for more.  I went home with strawberries and ate shortcake for supper–nothing else.  Oh my gosh was that delicious!  You can have your turn this week at the market to do the same.

And 6/19 we are celebrating Fathers’ Day with gifts to the fathers who stop by the market table.  Our wonderful bison vendors, Barb and John Bednarek have donated buffalo sticks to give away to the fathers.  We’ve also have some small fishing equipment to give away. Stop by to check it out.

You’ll be impressed with our vendors radishes, lettuce, spinich, honey, rhubarb, popcorn and tomatoes along with the freshest of the fresh just picked from vendors gardens in the morning.  See you on Friday.

Larry the Leek–aka Larry the no show leaker, pretty poster boy, mystery man of Lodi market, has yet to make a live appearance at the market.  So who needs Larry?  Last Friday a very handsome, very young man asked me if he could collect the cones from  the parking lot and put them in the barn.  I couldn’t say  “Yes, my love” fast enough.  He’s younger (might be in 2nd grade) than Larry I’m sure even cuter.  Too bad he won’t be at the market this week.  Might Larry make his first appearance?

The Lodi Valley Farmer’s Market is held on Friday afternoons from 2 – 6 May through October at the Northern Edge Restaurant, located at N1430 Highway 113, Lodi, WI.
