The Lodi Valley Farmer's Market is held Friday afternoons, April through October in the parking lot of the Northern Edge, corner of CR J and SR 113 in Lodi, WI

Market Manger Gail Lamberty is excited about the Market's season

“Hang on tight” was the theme for the market tents last Friday. The wind was blowing and blowing. I was crossing the street at the stop signs in town before the market and my hat decided to dance away. Mary Poppins had an umbrella, but no one I know flies by their hat and I don’t need to conduct the first experiment on hat flight. (Did you know the tent at the Brat stand down town blew over earlier in the afternoon?)

Our vendors are ever resourceful. One vendor decided to leave the tent in the truck. Another vendor told me that she was going to tie her tent to the bumper of her truck. She knew her tent would stay put. Often times vendors have concrete buckets attached to the corners to keep their tents firmly grounded. All buckets were front and center and tightly attached last week.

Fun and excitement at the vendor tables. Summer bounty is coming in with those first beets, red potatoes and early carrots. Strawberry vendors had folks lined up waiting to buy. One local vendor sold out and ran back home to get some more. She just had to go down the road a bit. Did anyone one say “locally grown”?

You missed the ever unique discussion at the market table last week. “You don’t ever want to get between mama bear and her cubs.” Stop by the table to add your 2 cents or 2 dollars worth the ever flowing conversation.

Stop buy at the table for our Father’s Day drawing. Put your dad’s name or your name in the bucket to win a bird feeder for dad. We’ll provide the feeder but you’ll need to make it squirrel proof–that we can’t do. No charge to enter but donations gladly accepted. Have you seen the market quilt? We’ve got tickets for the quilt we’ll be raffling on September 12th. Buy 5 tickets and you’ll receive a market bag as our gift to you.

See you at the market on Friday 2-6
