You know its really summertime when the strawberries arrive. Last week the market had the very first preview of the berries. They were red, juicy, and oh so sweet–capturing that flavor you’ve been waiting for. Strawberries contain the essence of summer in one sweet bite.

We see the early gifts of the garden on the vendors tables with the last flurry of bedding plants and planters looking for a new home. This week’s rain should make your soil ready for the treasures you find at the market.

The Memorial Day market brought you 25 vendors to serve your needs. In the historic tradition of markets variety is the name of the game. Each week you will find sweet honey, tasty buffalo, organic pizza, free range chicken and sea food for your table. For the garden you will find trellises, bird and bat houses and even an authentic Leopold bench created by a serious Aldo Leopold scholar. For your relaxation you will find a large variety of sweet smelling soaps. For pure delight you’ll find stone bracelets and earrings. For home you’ll find potholders and kitchen towels in bright and fun colors. Need a hand loomed rug? Lodi Market has it for you. And don’t forget the treats for Fido.

Stories, conversation, laughter, puns, smart remarks and jokes (practical and otherwise) are staples at the market table in front of the barn. Overheard at the market table last week “Were you there when the dinosaurs were there?” (I’m not making that up!) Now I’ll grant you that the only “chicks” at the table have been Pam’s baby chicks she brought last year! Do we really look that well preserved? Botox babes stand aside for the ladies of Lodi.

Stop buy at the table for a chat. Take a look at the market quilt. We’ve got tickets for the quilt we’ll be raffling on September 12th. Buy 5 tickets and you’ll receive a market bag as our gift to you.

See you at the market on Friday 2-6
