(Editor’s note: The Lodi VAlley News recently recieved this letter of thanks and praise for the Farmer’s Market from Kit Chase of Texas.)

The Lodi Farmer’s Market made it possible for me to wish my brother a happy birthday on June 11. I live in Texas and my oldest brother Mike was bravely turning another year older and I wanted to acknowledge him in a special way.

Gail and Barb from the Farmer’s Market came to my rescue. I googled Lodi, Wisconsin and through several phone calls was able to contact Gail Lamberty. I told her my idea of a basket of fresh produce delivered to my brother for his birthday. Say no more, she gave me Barb’s phone number and said that Barb was the one to help. And she did. However, Barb credits her father Tom as the true gardener and she only helps him.

My brother was surprised to find a basket on his doorstep. He described a fabulous basket of fresh vegetables and berries that included lovely bouquets of flowers for his wife, Mary.

The next day Mary made a fresh strawberry and rhubarb pie for Mike; he said the pie was mouth-watering and he couldn’t stop eating slice after slice.

What astonished me was the generosity and kindness that Gail and Barb demonstrated. I called them on a Wednesday and by Friday the basket was delivered – and the check was in the mail.

I was very happy to meet and talk – even if it was long distance – with such warm-hearted people from Lodi. Thank you Barb and Gail, you made June 11 memorable and special for my brother Mike, his wife, Mary and me in Texas!
