When money is tight, animals may take the brunt of a family’s budget. When an animal gets sick or injured as a stray, lost or abandoned animal who takes care of them?  The Lodi Vet Clinic has really stepped up to the plate with their organization and support of the Second Chance Fund and the activities they do to raise awareness and money.

The Second Chance Fund helps pay expenses for injured and sick animals. The Second Chance Fund is a program to give severely sick or injured animals within our community a second chance at life. Just in the last few years the program has accepted over 30 animals for rehabilitation, many of which were placed in new homes. Through fund raising they will be able to help even more animals. The Doggie Dash is a family fun event to raise money for the Second Chance Fund, provide exercise for people and animals, along with fun events for all.

i interviewed Dr. Mike Etter Jenna Squires, and Val Bilkey to get the low down on the event.  I managed to run the 2 miles with my dog at a nice dog trot while taking pictures and video.  After the run, I especially enjoyed the retrieval demonstration since my dog Boone fails at this every time. I think its because Australian Shepard’s prefer tag and keep away over throw and fetch.

If you weren’t able to make the event but still would like to contribute to the Second Chance Fund, stop down at the Lodi Vet Clinic on Main Street in Lodi.
